NaCC investigation finds short-term insurers fix prices

WINDHOEK – A preliminary investigation by the Namibian Competition Commission (NaCC), in terms of section 36 of the Competition Commission Act, has found that various short-term insurance companies have engaged in collusive conduct, specifically price fixing by setting maximum mark-up rates that panel beaters should charge for repairs to insured vehicles. Mark-up rates refer to the margins that panel beaters add on top of the costs of vehicle parts.

Ndama massacre case postponed to November

RUNDU - The case of Jesaya Gabriel Chuhunda, 20, accused of bludgeoning to death five family members on July 1, was postponed to November 23, and he will remain in police custody as the court subsequently denied him bail due to the seriousness of the crime.

Nanub unrepentant despite murder conviction

WINDHOEK - A resident of the Havana settlement of Windhoek who was convicted of murder with direct intent and robbery with aggravating circumstances for slitting the throat of his former girlfriend and mother of his daughter, before he robbed her and her new boyfriend of a gas stove, still maintains he did not commit the dastardly deed.
