Deputy Judge President of the High Court Hosea Angula this morning ruled in favour of an application by Maria Ukamba Haindaka to stop the conducting of elections to elect a new chief for the Shambyu. The elections was supposed to be held this coming Saturday.

Calling all Land Rover owners for second Land Rover Festival in Uis

Windhoek – Land Rover Owners Namibia (LRON) is organising the next Land Rover Festival which is scheduled to take place on August 24 to 27 2018 in Uis. The festival is expected to include action and fun-filled competitions, both in and out of the vehicle, and the aim to gather as many Land Rover vehicles as possible as organisers try their luck at the Guinness World Record Off-Road Convoy. The festival organisers hope to continue the passion for Land Rover vehicles and have therefore called for the oldest to the youngest Land Rover models to join the awesome weekend.

Volvo popular XC40 T3 to hit local showroom later this year

The extraordinarily popular Volvo XC40 is now available in T3 configuration which, unlike the rest of the models in the range, is a front-wheel drive vehicle propelled by a smaller 1.5 litre engine which is governed by a manual gearbox. However, according to the local Volvo dealership, the XC40 T3 will only hit Namibian showrooms later this year with a retail price in the half a million Namibia dollar range.

Repo rate remains unchanged at 6.75%

WINDHOEK – The Bank of Namibia’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) yesterday confirmed that the repo rate has been left unchanged at 6.75 percent. After a review of global, regional and domestic economic and financial developments, the MPC’s decision was made to continue supporting domestic growth, while maintaining the one-to-one link between the Namibia Dollar and the South African Rand.

Bank Windhoek opens Okahao Branch

WINDHOEK – Bank Windhoek extended its footprint in the country even further when it officially opened its 55th branch in Okahao, Omusati Region this week. The newest Bank Windhoek branch was officially opened by the Governor of the Region, Erginus Endjala, in the presence of King Johannes Mupongolitha Mupiya of Ongandjera, Mayor of Okahao, Immanuel Amutenya, councillors of Okahao Town Council, Managing Director of Bank Windhoek, Baronice Hans, and the Bank’s Head of Retail Banking Services, Chris Matthee. Members of the growing Okahao business community and invited guests were also in attendance to witness the opening.
