Hyundai SUVs get fresh new look, new gearboxes, and changed line-up

Two of Hyundai’s top-selling models in southern Africa, the Tucson and Creta sports utility vehicles (SUVs), are now available locally with fresh new design features and new gearboxes and a few derivative changes for the Tucson range.
 Hyundai’s Tucson, which has been a top-contender in its market segment since the launch of the first generation in 2009, has been given a new front and rear appearance with the addition of the Hyundai signature cascading grille, along with a new design headlight, fog lamp, front bumper and skid plate.

Lutombi reappointed as Roads Authority CEO

WINDHOEK - The Roads Authority’s (RA) Board of Directors has confirmed the re-appointment of Conrad Mutonga Lutombi as the authority’s chief executive officer for a second term. The re-appointment, which is effective from October 1, 2018, for a 5-year period, was announced in a statement by RA Board Chairperson Brian Katjaerua.

Early signs of recovery in housing market

WINDHOEK - FNB Namibia has released the housing index based on figures obtained from June 2018. According to FNB analyst Josephat Nambashu, although house prices increased by 0.8 percent y/y in June, property prices remain under pressure, after a series of annual falls over the last nine months, to bring the average house price to just over N$1.2 million. “The continued drop in the economy and the increased costs of living on the back of fuel increases remain a stark reminder that consumer spending remains under pressure, which is consequently depressing domestic property prices.”

Frenzied fatal knife case postponed to 2019

WINDHOEK - The trial of a woman accused of fatally stabbing her live-in boyfriend 17 times in 2009 will only resume in 2019.
Laimi Goagoses, 35, has been on trial on a charge of murder for the death of her boyfriend, Horst Gunther Radecke, 57. Radecke lost his life in the attack that took place on December 23, 2009 along Tempel Street, Dolam in Katutura.

Lion dies from capture stress

WINDHOEK - The Ministry of Environment and Tourism has explained the unfortunate death of a male lion during the processes of capture from Erongo Region to a farm outside Windhoek, saying it died from capture stress.
