WINDHOEK – A man who allegedly beat his mother to death on Sunday in Okondjatu was denied bail when he appeared in the Okakarara Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Charles Nderura, 35, was arrested at a village near Okondjatu in the Otjozondjupa Region on Sunday night in connection with the death of his mother.
He allegedly had a physical fight with his mother, Menesia Nderura, 63, over her own money on Sunday evening. Nderura allegedly pulled out an iron rod and hit his mother on the head. She died on the spot.
The tussle occurred between 21h00 and 22h00 at Okamaruru village, situated approximately nine kilometres east of Okondjatu in the Okakarara Constituency.
Otjozondjupa Regional Public Relations’ Officer, Sergeant Maureen Mbeha, informed New Era yesterday that Nderura was denied bail and the matter was remanded to November 19, for a legal aid application and further investigations.
The accused was not asked to plea.
