Home Oshana Business community says to register

ONGWEDIVA – The northern business community is urging all eligible voters to register for the upcoming national elections. The chairman of the Ongwediva arm of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry Veikko Haimbodi last week appealed to the northern business community to allow employees time off work so that they can go and register. “We have to take this registration seriously, all of us, whether its small businesses or well established business and parents too should urged their children to go and register. The registration card is a very important item to have also, not just for voting but as an identity document too. It is also a good example to our growing children when they reach voting ages as it shows that their parents have always taken part in the voting process, so it encourages them as well,” said Haimbodi.

He said although he has observed that the registration process is running smoothly many people are delaying to register thinking that they will register at the last minute. Haimbodi further appealed to fellow businesspeople to assist where they can when it comes to the education of learners who have excelled in their studies in their regions and communities. “We have learners who have done well in our communities, but we fail to assist where possible, some of these children fail to register to further their studies because of financial constraints.

Their parents cannot afford to help them financially. We should assist where we can, because as we all know, we need to educate our people to further develop our country, if not we would continue looking elsewhere outside the country for people to come and do the jobs that could have easily been done by our people had we helped them further their studies,” urged Haimbodi.
