WINDHOEK – Windhoek High Court Acting Judge Orben Sibeya yesterday sentenced three young men from Aminuis in the Gobabis district to sentences ranging from 10 years to seven years on convictions of rape of a 13-year-old girl. 

WINDHOEK – A farm worker who admitted he caused the death of his wife but denied he intended to kill her, told the court yesterday that he “just saw black” after his wife of 21 years had told him she enjoyed sex with other men more than with him. 

WINDHOEK – The man who was arrested on allegations he slit his ex-girlfriend’s throat with a knife and attempted to commit suicide in March is set to remain in police custody as the state still opposes his release. 

WINDHOEK – The Namibian police in Omusati Region are investigating a case of reckless and or negligent driving against an ambulance driver and a nurse after a patient, who is believed to be mentally unstable, jumped from the moving vehicle while being transported to the Oshakati state hospital from Outapi.

WINDHOEK - The trial of two Namibians and 12 Angolans, accused of defrauding the government to the tune of N$210 million through false tax refunds on purchases exported from Namibia, hit a snag on Monday.

WINDHOEK - Three young men from Aminuis in the Omaheke Region will be sentenced tomorrow after acting Windhoek High Court Judge Orben Sibeya convicted them of one count of rape each this week. 

WINDHOEK - A 59-year-old businessman, who was recently convicted of murder with direct intent, has approached the registrar of the High Court to appeal his conviction. 

WINDHOEK - Businessman Sakarias (Sacky) Mathias, 59, was sentenced to an effective 35 years imprisonment yesterday by Windhoek High Court Judge Naomi Shivute after he was found guilty on charges of murder, attempted murder, possession of a firearm and ammunition without a license and attempt to defeat or obstruct the course of justice.

WINDHOEK - Two witnesses yesterday testified that a worker on Farm Houmoed between Mariental and Kalkrand, accused of killing his wife of about 20 years, did so because she was unfaithful to him and bore another man’s child.

WINDHOEK - The trial of two men accused of killing an Acacia High School learner nearly five years ago came to a standstill following the hospitalisation of one of the accused.
