WINDHOEK– The European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) Cluster Namibia presents the 3rd Eunic Film Festival starting next Wednesday at Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC), Goethe Centre Windhoek, Diogo Cão Language Centre, Windhoek International School and for the first time at the Katutura Community Arts Centre (KCAC).
The 2014 festival will screen 14 movies from 14 European countries on wide ranging topics of “Celebrating Heroes”. The festival officially opens on Wednesday at the Diogo Cão Language Centre at the Windhoek International School with a comedy from Finland titled “21 Ways to Ruin a Marriage”. It goes on until September 17.
Films will be screened at the cinema of the FNCC, Goethe Centre Windhoek, Diogo Cão Language Centre, Windhoek International School, and KCAC with two screenings per night at 18H00 and 20H00. Festival goers can look forward to a versatile and entertaining programme of feature and documentary films from Belgium, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Denmark, Hungary, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Spain all screenings are free.
Founded in 2006, EUNIC has 32 members from 27 countries. The members work in the arts, language, youth, education, science, intercultural dialogue and development sectors. The EUNIC Cluster Namibia is composed of Alliance Française, British Council, Camões Institute represented by Diogo Cão Language Centre, Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre, Goethe Zentrum Windhoek as well as the Embassies of Finland and Spain.
For the 2014 festival, Belgium, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Netherlands, Poland and Slovakia are also present through their diplomatic missions in South Africa. The EUNIC Film Festival is facilitated by the collaboration of the European Union Delegation to Namibia.
