WINDHOEK – It’s back to the drawing board for Rehoboth outfit Reho Falcon Rugby Club, in the aftermath of a lukewarm showing by their own standards during the current term that saw the club fail to negotiate their way past the quarter-final stage of Namibia’s flagship rugby league.
In a bid to revive the club’s ailing fortunes and reclaim their rightful place among Namibia’s elite rugby playing clubs, Falcon has undertaken to introduce new blood by promoting several promising young players from the lower ranks.
Falcon’s Chairman, Stanford Isaacs, revealed the plans to revamp the squad during a handover ceremony in Windhoek recently where the Rehoboth based outfit became chief recipients of full playing gear from local businessman, Morne du Plessis, owner of local clothing manufactures and suppliers, Extreme Safety Wear.
The two-year sponsorship includes sets of jerseys, socks, shorts, balls, warm up bibs and tracksuits worth a lucrative N$100 000 per season.
Though the Rehobothers finished in the top half in the National Premier division long standings, the club could just not get out of first gear for the final home stretch and were subsequently eliminated in the quarter-finals when it mattered the most.
