WINDHOEK – Two sisters aged 12 and 14 years were last Wednesday raped at knifepoint by a 24-year-old neighbour at Oshihepo village in the Eenhana district.

According to the weekly crime report of the Namibian Police the girls were asleep in their hut when the suspect entered the room at about 21h00 and threatened to stab them with a knife before raping them. He was arrested. 

In other news, a member of the Namibian Police, Constable Hosea Jonas Haiduwa, died on the spot after he was hit by a truck. 

It is said that Haiduwa attempted to cross the road near Ongha village on the Ondangwa-Oshikango main road at about 19h30 on 20 August when the incident occurred. 

The police have opened a case of culpable homicide. 

An inquest docket was opened by the police at Okahao after a 31-year-old woman died after complaining of heartburn and stomach ache.

 An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death of Nuugwanga Iyambula from Oshilulu village. It is alleged that she started complaining about not feeling well at about 07h00 on 20 August, but passed away before family members could take her to hospital. 

A citizen of The Netherlands and his Peruvian wife sustained head injuries after their vehicle overturned about 20km from Torra Bay on 20 August. 

It was reported that Draper Heddle, 42, and his wife Claudia Olazabal, 41, were driving from Swakopmund when he lost control of the vehicle which overturned and rolled twice. 

Both were taken to Khorixas State Hospital and their condition was reported as stable. 

Another vehicle accident was reported on the Kamanjab-Palmwag gravel road. 

According to the police report a vehicle overturned after its right front tyre burst. 

The driver, 60-year-old Cornelius Uapingene suffered slight injuries, but one of his passengers, Ebenezer Uapingene, 47, died. 

His other passengers, John Katjaita, 53, Selma Kaputara, 50, suffered minor injuries while another passenger Erna Kaveterua, 33, sustained serious injuries.
